About Founder
Dr Nkala is a lecturer, researcher, facilitator, mentor, and consultant.

Dr Bongani Alphouse Nkala was born in a rural area called Novuka,
Impendle, KwaZulu-Natal, by the late former domestic worker (mother) and late
bricklayer (father). He
completed a National Diploma in Biotechnology at Natal Technikon with majors in
microbiology and biochemistry. He further obtained Bachelor’s degree in
Biotechnology at the Durban Institute of Technology (now knowns as the Durban
University of Technology). He further studied for a master’s degree in medical
science, with a major in environmental toxicology; and he also holds a
Doctorate in human physiology, with a major in African traditional medicine at
the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Dr Nkala has a background in applied and
natural sciences and teaches in the areas of laboratory management, biology,
microbiology, medical microbiology & immunology, agricultural economics,
industry exploration and work-integrated learning. Dr Nkala is passionate about
African traditional medicine with a particular interest in the management of
diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases. He has presented his work at local,
provincial, and international conferences.
The other Dr Nkala’s interest is connecting
graduates with industry for sustainable work and promoting self-substance
through science. Furthermore, he is passionate about STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and encourages young men and women to
pursue careers in these fields. Dr Nkala is a co-founder of the non-profit
ScienceCEO Academy which was established in 2015 and is based in Durban.
Dr Nkala has vast experience in the private
and public sectors with key focus areas such as lecturing, research &
development, facilitation, mentoring, coaching and placements of graduates with
industry. For this reason, he has embarked on offering his consultancy service
in areas he excels to ensure that people benefit from such services.
